Garden Room Gym

The Client Brief

This client wanted a space where they could really focus on their workout routine. The client required a garden room with enough space for an exercise bike and other gym equipment. Separate storage was also provided.

The Solution: A Garden Room Gym

Our solution involved a beautiful red cedar garden room, which became the centrepiece of this garden and a hub for exercise.

We organised all trades to deliver this sensational 32m² porcelain patio and garden office space. This garden room is clad in Western Red Cedar and finished with an EPDM roof, Black Ash soffits, and fascia.

This garden room gym has a storage area separate from the main room, accessed by a discreetly clad external single door made to match the cedar cladding seamlessly. The stud partition was also strategically placed to make the room feel even larger. Utilising this space allowed a comfortable fit for the client’s exercise bike and office desk.

Why a Garden Room Gym?

In today's busy world, finding the time and space for a regular fitness routine can be challenging. That's where the concept of a garden room gym truly shines. Here, we'll delve into some compelling reasons why a garden gym building could be the perfect addition to your home.

1.     A Private & Personalised Space

An outdoor garden gym offers an unparalleled level of privacy and personalisation. It's your sanctuary, free from the distractions and prying eyes often encountered at public gyms. You can tailor the space to suit your fitness goals and preferences, creating an environment uniquely yours.

2.     Increase your Property Value.

Beyond personal wellness, installing a garden room gym can also be a wise financial investment. This addition can significantly boost your property's overall value. Increasing your living space and providing a convenient fitness solution allows you to enjoy a healthier lifestyle without needing a costly commute or gym membership. A well-designed garden gym building can add up to one and a half times its value to your home. It's a win-win scenario – you invest in your health and your property's future.

3.     No Commute

One of the most compelling advantages of a garden room gym is the elimination of the daily commute to a traditional gym. Say goodbye to rush-hour traffic or braving the elements to reach your workout destination. Your garden gym building is just a few steps away from the comfort of your home. This convenience ensures that you can stick to your fitness routine regardless of your schedule, making it easier than ever to achieve your fitness goals.

4.     Always Open

Unlike many commercial gyms with limited operating hours, your garden room gym is always open and ready for use. Whether you're an early bird, a night owl, or somewhere in between, you have 24/7 access your fitness space. This flexibility allows you to work out on your own terms, helping you maintain a consistent and effective fitness routine.

Considerations For Your Garden Room Gym

Meticulous planning is vital when creating your dream garden room gym. Here are some essential factors to consider to ensure your garden gym building aligns perfectly with your fitness goals and lifestyle:

1.     Groundworks

Before you start building your garden room gym, assessing the ground where it will be situated is crucial. Ensure the area is level and well-prepared to provide a stable foundation for your gym. 2.     Ceiling Height

Your gym's ceiling height is critical, especially if you plan to incorporate equipment like pull-up bars or TRX straps. Ensure the roof offers enough clearance for your exercises, providing safety and comfort during workouts.

3.     Air Conditioning & Heating

Maintaining a comfortable temperature inside your garden room gym is essential for year-round use. Consider investing in high-quality air conditioning and heating systems to create an environment conducive to exercise, regardless of the season. Insulation will also keep you warm in the winter, all of our garden rooms roofs come fully insulated as standard.

4.     Lighting & Electrics

Proper lighting is essential for safety and functionality. Ensure your gym has sufficient natural light during the day, and install adequate artificial lighting for evening workouts. Plan the placement of power outlets strategically for equipment and devices and consider energy-efficient lighting options to reduce utility costs.

5.     Changing Facilities

If you plan to use your garden room gym regularly, having changing facilities nearby is convenient. This can be a small section within the garden gym building or a separate area in your garden room. Including a mirror and storage for workout attire can enhance the usability of your space.
